If you take three buckets of water, one cold, one room temperature and one hot and put one hand in hot and the other in cold for one minute and then put them both in the room temperature bucket the water will feel warm to the hand that was in the cold water and cold to the hand that was in the hot water.
Thus it is with sorrow. Without the balance of sorrow joy would not be as sweet.
